Without a doubt stretching is probable the best and more fundamental need in life. Keeping a good flexibility will improve your quality of life as well as your ability to function daily.


The tendency to rigidity and stiffness is one part of life. As you can observed with older people, they show a pattern of constant rigidity. The good news is that it can be prevented. A regimen of stretching will maintain good lubrication in the joints as well as laxity in the muscle fibers. Something to understand is that you don't need to do a stretching routine alone. It is always recommended to incorporate the routine to your normal workout. Nevertheless, what will happen if you do not workout normally?


Performing stretches as a solo practice can be beneficial for your well being too. Doing a light routine as yoga or Tai Chi will open a world of possibility for you and your overall health. The benefits of Tai Chi and yoga makes it a favorable practice for any age due to their simplicity. As a practitioner of Tai Chi and a doctor, my best and most repetitive advice is "stretch" but what does that entitle?


The effective performance of any routine of stretching will release tension and stress of the body. Most good stretching routine will require a dynamic stretching section and a static stretching section. Dynamic stretching will entitled motion along elongation of the muscle fibers to the maximum extent upon our own limitation. Static stretch entitles sustain a position of elongation for a certain extent of time. It is recommended to at least do dynamic stretches for as little as 5 min daily and static stretches for between 10 to 15 min to see effects and progress.


There's many different routines for both styles of stretching, and the purpose of this article is to open your view and add some knowledge on the importance of a forgotten and many times underestimated practice. Some of the most common benefits of adding this regimen is prevention of back injuries, decrease of low back and neck pain, better posture, better mobility, more energy, better mood, better oxygenation, more awareness and many others.
